At The Wellness Studio by Alisha, I want to share my approach to clean-eating, health, wellness and movement. At its heart, my approach is protein, fat, fiber, and greens at every meal which helps balance blood sugar, helps you eat to satiety, and naturally balances your hormones. This method has also led me to a more positive relationship with food because it makes me feel good about my choices. I feel empowered, not overwhelmed by my food and nutrition. One part of my everyday lifestyle is drinking a smoothie a day. It is practical, simple and has high nutrient density.

A smoothie is a liquid food that doesn’t need as much digestive work as solid food does and it's absorbed more quickly.  The whole process and absorption is eased and shorted – think of smoothies as fuel injection – so depending on your unique body chemistry, you will enter blood sugar balance and maintain energy.

LEVEL-UP!  A great way to give your body natural digestion-absorption-detoxification experience is to replace one meal a day with a smoothie.  Anything you can do to reduce the workload of your digestive system will further align your body.  Digestion can take up to six hours.  When you eat snacks all day, you’re asking your body to restart a process it hasn’t completed yet.  This can put a drain on your energy levels.

In my 7 Day Refresh Smoothie program, I have given you a variety of recipes that you will soon learn to mix n’ match. Get creative with the ingredients you have on hand.  Also, there are levels to the nutrient density to each recipe.  Use your intuition and be mindful of the healthy foods it is craving. 

My hope for you, is that over time, you can use these recipes as simple tool to refresh and build a healthy, active lifestyle you love!
